Roldano Cattoni was born in Trento (Italy) in 1964. He received his degree
in computer science from the
Universita' degli Studi di Milano
in 1989 in the field of the Knowledge Representation, working within the
Natural Language Group of IRST. In 1990 he joined the Computer Vision Group
at IRST working for 5 years on planning and control of mobile robots.
Since 1997 he is interested in probabilistic reasoning, in particular Bayesian
Belief Networks, applied for visual based monitoring and user profiling.
In late 1998 he joined the Software Engineering Group at IRST, working
in the field of Software Agents. In early 2000 he joined the Speech
Recognition Group, doing research on multi-language translation. After
working on Interlingua-based Machine Translation during the NESPOLE!
project, in March 2003 he moved in the world of Statistical Machine
Translation within the Hermes research line.
